چکیده

Within the framework of a simple Rouse-type model we present exact analytical results for dynamical critical behaviour on the sol side of the gelation transition. The stress-relaxation function is shown to exhibit a stretched-exponential longtime decay. The divergence of the static shear viscosity is governed by the critical exponent k = φ − β, where φ is the (first) crossover exponent of random resistor networks, and β is the critical exponent for the gel fraction. We also derive new results on the behaviour of normal stress coefficients.

Engineering the Dynamic Properties of Protein Networks through Sequence Variation

The dynamic behavior of macromolecular networks dominates the mechanical properties of soft materials and influences biological processes at multiple length scales. In hydrogels prepared from self-assembling artificial proteins, stress relaxation and energy dissipation arise from the transient character of physical network junctions. Here we show that subtle changes in sequence can be used to p...

Mode-coupling theory of the slow dynamics of polymeric liquids: Fractal macromolecular architectures

Recently a mode coupling theory for the dynamics of solutions and melts of entangled linear chain polymers has been developed. We report the extension of this approach to macromolecular architectures different from linear chains. Specifically, this work addresses recent experimental findings on melts of ring shaped polymers, small spherical micro-networks, and linear chains in two dimensions. T...

Polymer-mode-coupling theory of the slow dynamics of entangled macromolecular fluids

A microscopic statistical dynamical theory of the slow dynamics of entangled macromolecular fluids has been formulated at the level of effective generalized Langevin equations-of-motion of a tagged polymer. A novel macromolecular version of mode-coupling theory is employed to approximately capture the cooperative motions of entangled polymers induced by the long range, self-similiar interchain ...

Dynamics of gelling liquids: a short survey

The dynamics of randomly crosslinked liquids is addressed via a Rouseand a Zimm-type model with crosslink statistics taken either from bond percolation or Erdős–Rényi random graphs. While the Rouse-type model isolates the effects of the random connectivity on the dynamics of molecular clusters, the Zimm-type model also accounts for hydrodynamic interactions on a preaveraged level. The incoheren...
